I got bored over the CNY break so spent a few evenings creating AskShenzhen.com, a forum for the local community.

Flarum was my first choice (super-slick interface) but it ended up being too buggy for production (still in beta). Discourse made for a great runner up; web 2.0, responsive and simple for the end user.

I hosted a nix box through DigitalOcean and used SparkPost for email delivery. In all it took about 3 late nights to launch.

It's up and running now at AskShenzhen.com. Currently seems to be more of a place for people to practice english than anything else but I'm actually stoked anyone is using it at all.

It was ultimately an exercise to stave off late night boredom. I now have the Carmageddon 3 to keep me busy.
